Inhalt

Hatifa

Wise man Simsal joins the merchant Ganem’s caravan. On their journey he meets the beautiful Hatifa and allows her to accompany him. What he does not know is that Hatifa is a fugitive slave. Since the death penalty is imposed on everybody who consciously hides a slave, she conceals her origins from him. The servant Hodja is the only one she confides in and a little later they dare to escape together. They get caught by Ganem, however. When Hatifa gets carried towards a distant land on a slave ship, the pirate Zadock attacks the ship and frees the enslaved occupants. In Hatifa he eventually recognizes his daughter from whom he was separated many years ago.
