Inhalt

My Heart Is Mine Alone

My Heart Is Mine Alone tells the story of the love affair between a Jewish woman and a German man during this century; between two rival poets who wrote each other some of the most beautiful love poetry in literary history, passionate, sensual, desperate, wild, full of devotion and of hatred.

He was an enthusiastic supporter of the Nazis. She, on the other hand, was obliged to leave the country where she had once celebrated her greatest triumphs, wandering like a beggar from country to country until she was to reach her real home - Jerusalem. He soon realised his mistake, however, when the Nazis condemned the artistic school to which he belonged as "degenerate" and he lost favour. Germany began destroying its Jewish population and itself. His swan song to her following her death remains an enduring declaration of his love.
