Biography

Jochen Schroeder, born February 8, 1954, in Bochum, started an apprenticeship as a butcher at the mere age of 14 but already dropped out after six weeks. After living as a vagrant "tramp" (Schroeder), he started an apprenticeship as a retail dealer that he finished successfully. At the same time, he also discovered his love for the theatre and for acting. As a consequence, he started to attend drama school and graduated from Bochum"s Westfälische Schauspielschule. Schroeder subsequently performed at theatres in Bochum, Berlin, Bremen, and in Bonn.

Schroeder made his breakthrough as a movie actor in 1979 with a leading role in the three-part TV movie "Die große Flatter". Alongside Richy Müller who at the same time also started his acting career, Schroder played a homeless teenager in this social drama who in vain tries to leave his lower class environment behind.

Since then, Schroeder was seen in numerous TV movies and TV series. His best-known role is probably the part of male nurse Mischa in the TV series "Die Schwarzwaldklinik" ("The Black Forest Clinic"). Between 1985 and 1989, Schroeder starred in 53 episodes of the series.

In October 1994, Jochen Schroeder opened his own theatre, Comödie Bochum. In November 1999, he also opened Comödie Duisburg im Residenz which was followed by Comödie Wuppertal in September 2003. Besides his activities for Comödie, Jochen Schroeder keeps working as a TV actor, writer, editorial advisor, and story developer.
